Please note that links to the printable music parts will be sent to registrants by the band leaders the week before rehearsals begin, around April 17, 2023.

Procedures and protocols may be updated prior to the start of rehearsals.

Key Information Applying to All In-Person Band Rehearsals

  • Dates: Eight consecutive rehearsals beginning the week of April 24 and running to the week of June 12.
  • Time: See below for specific band times.
  • Rehearsal length: Two one-hour sessions separated by a 15-minute break.
  • Level: Four bands will offer music at an intermediate level.

Intermediate Bands (Concert and Jazz): Repertoire of 8-10 pieces (level 1.5-3.5). Members can comfortably play 3 or more scales.

  • Location: Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Ave, Ottawa; or Brookfield High School, 824 Brookfield Rd., Ottawa (see below).
  • Registration (returning band members): Open March 27 until April 12 at Registration – In-Person Bands. Preference will be given to returning members until April 5. Initial registration will be limited to one in-person band. A second phase of registration starting April 5 will allow members to register for a second in-person band, instrument balance and space permitting.
  • Registration (new members): Open April 5 until April 12. Registration for some bands may be limited based on instrument balance and space.
  • Fees: The fee will be $125 per in-person band. The fee for any subsequent in-person band (space permitting) will also be $125.
  • Refunds:  A member withdrawing from a band before the third rehearsal of a session will receive a full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee. Refunds will not be provided for later withdrawals.
  • Cancellation: If it is necessary to cancel an in-person band partway through the session, a partial refund will be given. If cancelled before the third rehearsal a refund of $100 will be given. If cancelled after the third rehearsal refunds will be pro-rated.
  • Concert: Due to the circumstances, there will be no “all-bands” concert, however, there may be opportunities for individual bands to have their own performance or open rehearsal.

In-Person Band Procedures and Protocols

  • All members of an in-person band must have two COVID vaccines, plus a booster. Proof of vaccination must be provided at the first band rehearsal if you were not registered in either the Winter 2023 or Fall 2022 session.
  • Band size may be limited, depending upon space. Musicians will be spaced apart while playing.
  • It may not be possible to accommodate all band members who wish to play in person.
  • If an applicant cannot be accommodated in their band of choice, they may be offered a place in another band.
  • Musicians will be expected to wear masks when they arrive and leave and when they leave their playing position during rehearsals. Musicians may wish to use masks, slitted masks or bell covers while playing.

Please review all of ONHB’s Covid-19 Protocols for the Spring 2023 In-Person session prior to registering.
