This Week’s Rehearsal
For our dress rehearsal this week we performed in the Sanctuary, working through our concert program, starting with Fanfare for the Common Man followed by Summertime and finally John Williams: Movie Adventures.
We then rehearsed our program for our community concert starting with Celebrating My Three Best Friends followed by Edelweiss, You Must Know, Balladair, and The Sweetheart Tree. We will work on the balance of our pieces for the community concert next week.
Thanks to Danielle (tenor sax), Maury (clarinet) and Kathryn (French horn) for volunteering to introduce our spring concert pieces. We are still looking for volunteers to introduce all the pieces except Edelweiss and Celebrating my Three Friends at the community concert. Please let Angela ( a.blackwell@rogers.com ) know if you are prepared to help out with introductions.
Next Rehearsal (from Angela)
Next week we’ll run all the pieces for our community concert at Embassy West then focus on our three concert pieces.
Spring Concert
Our spring concert is scheduled for Sunday April 15 at 2:00 in the Sanctuary at Woodroffe United Church. We will be performing third, following the Elgin Encores.
Dress code for the concert is black shirts (band shirts are fine) and black pants or skirts with a splash of red such as a tie, scarf or necklace. Make sure to wear black or dark shoes and black sox.
For the concert, the low brass (trombones, baritone/euphonium, tuba and bass) will be on the conductor’s right.
We will be joined by two additional musicians for the spring concert.
Don’t be surprised to hear a gong in our percussion section for the spring concert.
Remember to face the audience after we have finished playing our pieces and rise to accept the applause.
There will not be enough parking for all musicians and concert goers at Woodroffe United Church. There is however ample parking at Woodroffe Public School right next door. We are allowed to park at the school through a special arrangement between the church and school.
While everyone has indicated they are able to participate in the spring concert, should your circumstances change, please let both Angela and Leslie know as soon as possible.
