What’s New for January 31?
Week 3 – The weather gave us a nasty surprise on Wednesday afternoon. In spite of the messy roads, many of you braved the weather and came out. We had clinics in the second hour, and worked on some articulations and tricky parts. Not to worry if you missed rehearsal. We always encourage people to decide for themselves if their travel route is safe. We have lots of time ahead of us, including a full rehearsal next week with Kyle, and a one-hour rehearsal followed by sectionals with Richard, Daniel and Kyle leading in the second hour on February 14.
New Music Handed Out: It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) – your section band-mates have the extra copies if you missed rehearsal.
We Played :
Scales: Concert Bb, and Blues Scale starting on Bb (half notes, and swing rhythm)
Jammin’ with Charlie
My Dinner with Ronald (first half of the piece)
Frankenstein
The Latest News:
We postponed our social outing because of the weather. Kyle will take a poll to see if there is sufficient interest to go out following rehearsal on the 7th. Feb. 21st is a good possibility, as a back up plan!
Sectionals on Valentine’s Day! Feb. 14 7:45 – 8:45 (Invite your significant other to band rehearsal to hear your progress!)
Listening is practicing!
