Rehearsal Notes for Two Beats Ahead – Monday, October 23, 2017

Greetings TBA Band mates!

And we have another strong rehearsal in the books this week. This one, I have to say, featured a much improved trombone section, almost killing it on the Fowl Play bones’ soli!

Next week, quick reminder about the section acquiring TLC: The mighty trumpets!. Let’s make sure trumpeteers meet at 6:15 pm next Monday, so that the sectional can start at around 6:20ish and we can have a full 30 minutes of intense fun!

Next week, we’ll still focus on the concert material but also on the other new repertoire such as Trip to Loreto, Higher Ground etc.

Please give some thought to a possible participation at Capital Region MusicFest, on March 2-3. If you enjoy that kind of work, as a member of CRMF’s executive committee, I can tell you that there is a lot of adult volunteers needed for the festival, with responsibilities such as MC, Stage managing, etc. Let me know if interested. The price for the band is $200, so around $10 per person, including, a warm-up room and warm-up time, adjudicated performance on stage and clinic. A Photo session does follow after the festival process so let’s bring our bonnets, needles and wool mittens!

Next week we are working on:

  • Chicks Dig It
  • Softly as in the Morning Sunrise
  • Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars
  • Tribute to Miles
  • Fool Me Once
  • Fowl Play
  • Higher Ground
  • A Child is Born

(Bold means Holiday Concert repertoire)

Wait! That’s a full, 50 minutes’ set!

Kind Regards and may our trumpeters practice hard this week!!
