The new name of this band is the OTown Octaves.
Dates to remember:

– Ottawa New Horizons concert, Sunday December 15, 2019 2 pm at Brookfield High School
The OTown Octaves will also perform a community concert later in the session. This will take place at the same time as one of our regular rehearsals, sometime before the ONH concert. The date for this TBA. Sheila is open to ideas as to where we could play (seniors’ centre or other community venue). Contact Sheila with your suggestions.
Sheila suggested that one enlarge the sheet music. Meg offered that at Staples, enlarging it by 129%, will produce music on 11 x 17 inch sheets of paper that can be trimmed to fit a music portfolio.
This week, the low brass introduced their instruments to the band.
This week we practiced:
Carmen: Sheila suggested that when we practice with a metronome, to set the speed at something comfortable, and then eventually work up to the desired speed, in this case a quarter note = 88. Note that at measure 36, the piece speeds up.
Tango Mariana: Sheila suggested that we exaggerate the dynamics in this piece. We are working to a speed of quarter note = 92.
