Hello JJB Musicians,
Welcome to the Winter 2020 Jumpin’ Jazz Band! We have 35 members – many returning from the fall session, some from previous sessions and some new members as well! I look forward to seeing you all Monday, Jan 6 at Brookfield High School, in the music room (main floor, hall to the right of the auditorium, room 154). Set up and warm up starts at 6, and rehearsal is 6:30 – 8:45.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Art Stewart for his work as our Band Rep since Jumpin’ Jazz Band began, in January 2018. Art lead the proposal for the new Jumpin’ Jazz Band, and has been a huge support to me personally. The Band Rep term is two years, and a new Band Rep is needed. If you are interested, please check the type of work involved in the document The Role of the Band Rep https://ottawanewhorizons.com/administration/
Thanks also to Dave Jones, who is continuing to volunteer with JJB, helping out in all areas! We are so lucky to have his kind assistance!
I appreciate the help I am receiving from Sue, Errol and Wayne to prepare the music scans which are being loaded to Drop Box. Please print off all parts for your instrument for the pieces in the Drop Box. Three pieces are currently available. Due to technical difficulties, some music will be available this Monday at rehearsal and will be eventually be available in this same link.

The listening links below are the charts we will be learning this session. We will perform some of these at our ONHB concert in April, as well as a community concert. We will also be keeping up almost all of our fall session music, (dropping Autumn Leaves as it is not as appropriate for a spring community concert).
New members, please print off the music from the fall Drop Box Link

Enjoy Listening! Keep coming back to listen – and send me your favourite jazz recordings to share. To play jazz, just LISTEN!
See you tomorrow!
Cathy
