Jan. 30th: What we worked on

We did some great work on Abracadabra up until just past measure 79.  We worked on creating a playful mysterious atmosphere full of sudden dynamic contrasts.

We worked on the opening of Jupiter, getting rhythms and articulations to match up across sections

We only had a few minutes to spend on Jitterbug but we did read up until 77

For the coming week Feb. 6^th, we will work on the following selections:

Golliwog’s Cakewalk ..feeling the playful spirit and light syncopated rhythms

Jupiter ..working first on the ¾ section beginning at 48.  We will then work from the beginning section linking these two sections together.

Among the Clouds..up until about measure 75

Jitterbug first section (Up to 77) We didn’t get much time to dig into this, this past week but will this week.

Hopefully we will have time to pull out the World War 1 medley march, working especially on the first section (Please let me know if you don’t have this one and I will try to send it to you)

Abracadabra continuing on past 79 (if time)

For the second half of the rehearsal we will be in sectional clinics.  Here is the schedule, but please note it is subject to change.
