DJB Sept.5, 2017

Hi Jazz Banders – welcome to the fall session of the Ottawa New Horizons Downtown Jazz Band (DJB).   We start on September 21 in our old haunt, the basement music room at Merivale High.  The session ends with the Christmas concert on Dec. 10 at 3 pm.   For those who are returning from previous years, this year the ONHB Christmas concert will be on a Sunday afternoon instead of the dreaded Wednesday night – yay!

Please see the email below from the music teacher at Merivale High School.  Since she is kind enough to let us use her music room, I am sure we will all do our best to respect her wishes.

I had previously passed on the poster about the CAMMAC workshop on Light Jazz for Orchestra, coming up on Sept. 23, to last year’s DJB members.  I’ve attached it again so that new folks can have a look at it too.

See you in 2 weeks!
Jody

Hello New Horizons!
The basement music room is ready to be used again. I do have a message for you from care staff. You will notice a brand new carpet in the music room. PLEASE NO FOOD OR DRINKS in the music room. This not only applies to students but also to all the community groups that rehearse in that room. Please leave all food and drinks in the hall. Water is ok, but no coffee, tea, pop, juice etc. I know we are all adults but accidents sometimes happen and after everything that happened in that room last year, we want to keep it clean. This also applies to dirty shoes, please remove them when it rains or snows. Thank you for your cooperation!
