Hello JJB Musicians,
Looking forward to our first of three clinics/sectionals tomorrow! The second clinic is on October 15th, and the final larger group sectionals will be on October 29th. We have a special guest leader on Nov. 26!
Here is the plan for Monday’s clinics in the first hour from 6:30 – 7:30. (Drums starting earlier at 5:50 with Ivan D. in Music Room so he can get to a rehearsal at Nepean in time)
Focus pieces:

Clinics 6:30 – 7:30:
Saxes and Bass Clarinet – Clinician Zac Sedlar – in the staff room (142 across from the music room.
Trumpets and Clarinets – Clinician Rocco Romeo – on stage in the auditorium at Brookfield.
Flutes – Clinician Cathy Wilcox – large practice room with keyboard off music room 154
Rhythm section and low brass – Clinician Keith Hartshorn- Walton Music room 154 and adjoining room to north, with side coaches Dave Jones (guitar) and Ivan Dimitrijevic (drums)
Piano, Bass and electric guitars will set up and tune at 6:20 in Music Room 154
Trombones and Tuba will arrive at 6:20 and move to a practice area off of the music room on the north side – the area outside of the Music office, (grab chairs from the cage) to warm up, tune, and work together on pitching and balance for the harmony sections in the three focus pieces. Keith will work with you here at 6:50 on an area or two you identify, before joining forces with rhythm section. Piano is nearby to check pitches.
(You may arrive early (6 pm) in your clinic areas, but please avoid the music room from 5:50 – 6:20, where the drummers will be working)
General Winds Sectional Overview
6:30 – 6:45 Introduction, warm up, tuning, jazz articulation
6:45 – 7:30 Work on three focus swing pieces (flutes add opening to Stay Cool to the list)
6:50 – 7 Keith works with trombones and tuba on places identified as soli, harmonies
7 – 7:30 Trombones and Tuba join rhythm section in music room.
