Greetings Capital Crescendos,
A wonderful start to the new session yesterday with some excellent sight reading — and great fun meeting with new and returning members!
As you get back into your practice routine, remember to play through the warm ups on page 42 and 43 in the Tradition of Excellence Book 2. These provide for a good review of the 3 main key signatures that we will be playing from. Also have a look at the following selections (from Tradition Of Excellence) : #43, 63, 87, 137, 146, 155. We will have more new and exciting tunes to read through next week.
Here are the corresponding audio links for each of the new pieces you now have. Listen and enjoy. Leave your sheet music aside when you first listen, so that you can get an overall sense of the pieces.

Clinics will begin next week, during the first hour from 12:45 – 1:45. Room allocation will be posted in the lobby. Please remember that the rooms are available to us from 12:15 onwards, so if you do arrive early please wait until that time to enter the room, in the event that the rooms are locked or being used by another group. Following the clinics, we will reassemble downstairs in Fellowship Hall for refreshments, and the second hour will be full band.
A few other notes:
Volunteers : Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to help out. We are still looking for additional volunteers to help out with photocopying and concert co-ordination. Also, please remember to lend a helping hand to the percussion section with the moving in and out of their instruments at our rehearsals on Thursdays.
Photos & videos: Please let me know if you would rather not be included in any photos or videos.
Name Tags: If you have not already done so, please let me know if you need a name tag.
Social Outing: Remember that next week after band is our first social of the new session — we will be meeting at Connor’s pub on Bank (just around the corner from D-C). Everyone is very welcome!
Looking forward to seeing you all next week!
Sheila
